Ceremony & Reception Sites

There are many wonderful, tranquil spots in Sayulita for your ceremony and reception. Whether from a palapa overlooking the bay, the terrace of a private villa, or from one of the local beaches with breathtaking views of the sunset, we will help you find the perfect site for your event. Sayulita also has a charming Catholic church in the town square. Catholic couples can be married in the church, and following a church wedding, you and your guests can have a festive procession through town, perhaps led by a Mariachi band, to your reception site.

Choosing Your Date

The best months of the year for weddings are October through May, with temperatures averaging in the 80s, low humidity, great waves, and little to no rain. The winter months, from December to March, bring majestic Humpback Whales to Banderas Bay , providing spectacular whale-watching opportunities for you & your guests. The rainy season, from July through September, brings higher temperatures, humidity, and frequent tropical thunderstorms. During the rains, the jungle and plant life in Sayulita come alive, painting the landscape of the area in vibrant, lush greens – a perfect backdrop for fall weddings. November through April is generally considered “high season.” During this time, most private villas rent on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday. For this reason, you may want to consider having your wedding ceremony and reception on a Thursday or Friday. During “low season,” typically May through October, lodging rates tend to be lower and you may find more flexibility in booking accommodations.

Getting Married in Mexico

If you would like to be legally married in Mexico , you will need to have a civil ceremony officiated by a state appointed official at a location of your choosing. You will both be required to take a blood test in application for your marriage license. Sayulita has a lovely Catholic church in the town square if you would like a church wedding. Please note that you will also need to have a civil ceremony here or at home in order to legally change your marital status. Many couples opt for a purely symbolic ceremony here, with their own officiant, and are then married legally back home. There are a variety of options, and we can make them all happen for you here.
